4/29/03, 4:20 p.m.: Round II.
This whole Eustachy thing keeps getting better. I never thought I'd see the day when our basketball coach found a way to get mocked on espn.com's page2, but here it is: "Larry's Big Night Out"....and you know, it would be an incredibly funny story if it wasn't OUR coach. And don't miss Larry's Guide to Party Schools", either. I also read that an editor for the the Des Moines "Hawkeye" Register wrote an editorial calling for him to be fired. I certainly don't think LE should lose his job, but I'm guessing that he's probably wishing right about now that he had developed better relations with the press, huh? Then maybe they wouldn't be siezing this opportunity to kick him while he's down =| Poor Larry.
4/28/03, 4:50 p.m.: Busted.
After the scandalous and tragic debacle that Iowa State Men's Basketball was this past season, it needed more controversy like you or I need a boot to the face. And yet, crap like this keeps happening (be sure to click the link in the body of the article, too--heh heh). Wow, what a really classy program Cloneball has become. I have yet to decide if this is funny or just disappointing, but the bottom line is that it's really not cool for any 47-year-old man (and I don't care WHO he is) to be hanging around college parties. Plus, under the influence or not, to bad-mouth your own team like while on an opposing team's campus is uncalled for... Oh, well. Let's just hope that it only gets better from here.
4/27/03, 8:40 p.m.: "I'm an imperial general, not some opera floozy!"
I had a wonderfully "musical" weekend. Last night I went to a Stuart Davis show at Cafe Escape, more or less on a whim since I'd never heard any of the guy's music before. It turned out to be an awesome acoustic show--I really enjoyed his stuff, and he happened to be a complete goofball, too, both during and between songs. It was a blast. I would highly recommend going to see him next time he's in Ames. I also had my band concert this afternoon, and I think for the most part it went pretty well. Probably the best concert I've been a part of since joining up three semesters ago. So all in all, I had a pretty darn good weekend =)
4/24/03, 9:00 p.m.: "Son of a submariner!"
Well, it's been a rather uneventful week other than the usual bunch of school crap to take care of. I kinda enjoyed the light rain today, though. Made for a pleasant walk to class, except when I realized I'd worn my shoes with the hole in the bottom of the the left heel, and I had to walk around the rest of the day with a sopping wet shoe =P Also today, I realized that I have no band rehearsals next week (since the concert is this coming Sunday). This, combined with me not having *any* labs next week, means that for the first time EVER in my college career, dead week will actually be "dead" for once. No projects, no tests, no labs, no rehearsals, no presentations, just one lab report to do and a crap ton of studying. Just as it should be.
4/22/03, 11:45 a.m.: HT Ramblings
I got some unexpected good news today in my heat transfer lab: today was the last lab period for the year, and to make things better, there's NO report due next week--meaning I have only one lab report total left to write this semester! In addition to that, on Monday my professor for the class cancelled the quiz we were supposed to have next week, as well as the second project we were supposed to do. SCORE =)
4/20/03, 11:40 p.m.: Only three weeks left...
Well I hope all y'all had a good weekend, and are getting ready to gear up for finals. Yuck. It hardly seems like it should be time to be thinking about finals already, but I suppose for some of you who are graduating, you may actually be looking forward to getting them over with for the last time as an undergrad. Also today, I realized again why I don't really like nor watch that much TV anymore (especially this time of year), as I flipped through four consecutive channels and got the big four in worthless 'sports': hockey playoffs, nascar, golf, and baseball (sorry Ross). I then settled for the dog show on animal planet =)
4/17/03, 1:00 a.m.: "I'm a hitter, not a quitter, baby!"
Not much to say today, except that I'm enjoying some much-needed R&R after getting off to a painfully busy start to the week. I finally have some time now to play Zelda =) In other news, the UP Sale page received an update for the first time in about a month and a half, as Andy and Steve went all-out today and bought some Sun Sparcstations. Way to go, fellas!
4/15/03, 10:27 p.m.: It's hot in here.
As the photo below clearly shows, it's really damn hot in my apartment. I took that picture when I got home from class 4 horus ago; it's no better now, and the windows and porch door have been open all evening, not to mention that the A/C has been cranked (set at 65 as you can see in the pic) and running for two days STRAIGHT. I don't get it. Either my AC's borked, or they tried to pull a fast one on me. I think I'm going to have to go complain tomorrow before I melt away...

This is ridiculous...
4/13/03, 1:00 p.m.: And Team M.E. comes through with the VICTORY.
As Ross and I had boldy proclaimed earlier this week, Team M.E. ruled the Bolo Battlefield at Wong's this weekend. We dominated the so-called masters of the game, Sam and Andy, whose paltry alliance disintegrated in the face of our superior Bolo prowess (if there ever was such a thing.) I believe the screenshot below tells the whole story =)

Take notice of the fact that Ross and I are the only two standing at the end of the game...
All boasting aside, Sam's birthday was a blast, and I hope everyone enjoyed as much as I did the most excellent grilling and cooking talents of his parents. Many thanks for the food and entertainment! And for the record, Hero is far and away the sweetest movie I have seen in awhile. I really really hope it makes it to U.S. theatres someday--the amazing camerawork would look soooooo awesome on the big screen...
4/9/03, 12:05 a.m.: I have returned!
And that works in oh so many ways...sorry for the lack of updates lately, but the Man has stuck it to me the last couple weeks. I won't bore you with the details, however. The highlight of the last week has definitely been my acquisition of a gamecube from a guy I know at work, for those of you who haven't heard yet. I got the 'cube, a wavebird, a couple memory cards, metroid, both zeldas, smash bros, and a game called eternal darkness for $225. I thought it seemed like a pretty good deal. So after skipping a generation of Nintendos by not buying an N64, I have finally returned to the franchise that started it all for me. The only drawback is that now the stack of games that I want to play in the future has just doubled =)

Can't we all just get along?
4/3/03, 11:21 p.m.: SNAP!
Not much new going on this week, just getting whupped in every facet of the game. I really just need some sleep after staying up past 4am twice this week. It's my own fault for procrastinating, but still. I feel like poo now that I have no coffee in my system ;-)
I did manage to get the Pismo sent off today, so I wish it a safe journey and best of luck in its new life. *sniff* I'm gonna miss that little guy...
4/1/03, 1:44 a.m.: Happy April Foo' Day
Okay, so the Man caught up with me this week. I spent all day Sunday studying for a test that I did poorly on this morning, then sat down for 5 1/2 hours straight tonight and cranked out a history midterm paper, followed by an hour-long battle with 421 homework. I'm completely mentally spent right now...
So, as if things in the world aren't bad enough with this whole war thing going on, among other things, the National Wildlife Federation must have decided my ego was too big, and sent me this inspirational, personalized set of address stickers in the mail this week:

(For those who can't read that, it says "pansy" next to my name. Hahaha.)
