Homeward bound ... almost.
Took my first (!) final of the semester today (hydrology), 6 days after having finished my last day of class. It went pretty well though I had expected it to be much easier -- but the TA let us have an extra 20 minutes to work on it so I think it all evened out in the end. I think that gives me a little extra cushion for the final tomorrow in limnology, which will probably kick my ass. I find it hard to care too much anymore, though. Tomorrow will mark the one week point since I finished classes; it hardly feels like I should still be taking tests. I am just really tired of school and want to go home and relax for a bit in more familiar surroundings. Now if it would just snow a bit while I'm back in friendly Ames, that would be awesome...

On a related note, I think I set a personal cold-weather running record this morning, as I went for a jog in 6 F weather (-15 F wind chill). It was just a *tad* bit cold running into the wind =)

Anyway ... back to studying, and I hope to see some of you soon! If not, have a nice Christmas!!

BUT WHY'S THE HEAT GONE!?
Although most schools are probably having finals this week, here at the U of M we like to do things differently, so I get to have 3 more days of class before finals begin on Thursday. Then, although I only have 2 finals, they are on the last two days of finals 'week' -- on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Lame.

However, the big news of the past week, I guess, is the fact that it is December in Minnesota and for whatever reason, the heat in my apartment keeps going out. Four times in the last 8 days to be exact. The first time there was air in the line, and I thought (foolishly) that that would fix everything, but I was wrong. Then last Wed. it stopped working, and so I called in to complain, and somehow my complaint got changed from "Apt. too cold" to "Apt. too hot" and the note that maintenance left said "It is 62-63 in your apartment, is this too hot?" ... seriously. I might be from Iowa, but I can handle the cold. I like my apartment a LITTLE warmer than that =| After it quit working again last Friday (and magically started working Sat. morning), I woke up this morning after the coldest night we've had yet (12F when i woke up, -6F windchill) and found I had no heat again ... Allegedly they are going to fix it sometime this morning as it is a whopping 50 in here right now. PLEASE FIX, I'D LIKE TO BE ABLE TO LIVE HERE DURING JANUARY. THANKS. /rant.

I guess three is the magic number because I have one more gripe for this week, although not really a serious one. This is the first finals week in three years that I have not had a LOTR movie to look forward to =( I feel like there is some significant part of my college experience missing now ... however, small consolation though it may be, the extra long version of ROTK comes out tomorrow. Good thing I don't have class because it may take me all day to watch it. Actually, I am pretty pumped for the movie, especially since it has so many extras (and the collector's edition gets an extra DVD devoted completely to the making of the symphony!) I have not been this excited about a movie since last December ;)
