11/24/02, 6:57 p.m.: Weekend Recap
First of all, I had a pretty good weekend (if you look past the 'Clone's embarassing loss to UConn...thank goodness basketball starts tomorrow.) There really weren't too many people around, so I pretty much just slept, watched football, and played video games. I was in an old-school kind of mood, so I put Chrono Trigger in my PS2 and fired it up on Saturday afternoon. Square added some anime cut-scenes to the PSX version, which are actually pretty cool. All in all, it was quite the nostalgic gaming experience, and a lot of fun, too.

In other news, I had another "interesting" experience with my apartment today. This afternoon, as I'm about to step out my door and go to the store, my landlady knocks on my door and asks if she can show my apartment at 4:00. I said "sure thing," closed my door, and look at my wall clock--and it's 4:05. WTF?! She claimed she didn't have my phone #, or else she would have called earlier. Whatever. So I hurry to get my place cleaned up a bit before the people come by, but I really didn't get that much accomplished. Oh, well. I couldn't really care less--I'll be out of here in another month anyway ;-)
11/22/02, 6:05 p.m.: You did WHAT?!
After much deliberation, I decided to go ahead and try to sell my TiBook. (Don't worry, I'll get another when I find a good deal!) I have been using it quite a bit lately and have grown kinda attached to it (it's such a BEAUTIFUL machine, as I'm sure Ross can attest to.) But alas, I just can't justify keeping it given the amount of $$ it cost me in the first place :-( And since Apple decided to release those new TiBooks a few weeks ago, I've found that it will be tough to break even now. Dang it, Apple! I finally go out and get myself a nice powerbook, and this is how I'm repayed?
If you care to see the eBay auction for it, look here. Ah, well. At least my poor pismo will be happy now--I think it was getting lonely from neglect ;-)
11/21/02, 10:23 a.m.: =)
Well, it looks I have a couple friends who could use some cheering up. Believe me fellas, if I could right now, I'd give y'all hugs. But for now, this will have to do =)

11/20/02, 12:20 a.m.: The return of strangesearch
A big THANK YOU to Andy for showing me how to get remotely connected to strangesearch though his beautiful himac, which is sitting quietly in a cubicle in VRAC. It's been well over a year since I last used strangesearch from the comfort of my own computer...probably means I'll need to get a bigger hard drive, now that my 20gig is down to less than 1gig free.
11/17/02, 9:30 p.m.: Grr...
So my internet connection is running REALLY slow again...usually this means the connection will be dropped entirely at some random point in the near future. I hate to admit it, but my DSL here is less reliable than the mediacom cable I used to have back in Ames. Go figure.
Nothing really exciting happened this weekend, which means that I got a lot of sleep. Can hardly complain about that =) I also remembered to watch the Simpson's today, which might be the first time in a couple months I've seen it. I'm so glad they're still making new episodes--I'll have to make more of an effort to watch it from now on.
11/14/02, 11:35 p.m.: Heh heh..get it? SquareDance!
I like to think I have a very diverse taste in music. So today I present to you my most recent musical acquisition, which should, if there was ever any doubt before, prove just how much of a Square "geek" I am. Have you ever heard of SquareDance before?
In all honestly, though it is in every way an amateur production, I was rather surprised by the quality of this collection of Squaresoft-themed dance/techno/trance mixes. It's not just Uematsu stuff, either, so there's a good variety. Some of the tracks (though certainly not all of them) are very nicely done and I really get a kick out of listening to it. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I enjoy video game remixes a lot. If you wish to hear some track samples from this CD, click here (though they really don't do the music justice.) If you find anything you like, let me know and I'll post some tracks for you to d/l. Just to sample, of course ;-)
11/14/02, 12:05 a.m.: "It comes in pints!?"
Hmmmm...sweet Lord of the Rings goodness...I'm currently watching my new LOTR Special Edition, and I must agree with Sam--I think I might be enjoying it even more watching it at home. Seems much darker and spookier than I remember it being before, and so far I've been able to pick out a few of the added scenes. Very nice, indeed! I think I'm also going to need the soundtrack at some point, too. I'm very impressed.
11/13/02, 12:20a.m.: $331.01
Well, that's how much I made on eBay for my non-working TiBook. The guy even paid me today, so you know what I did? Went out and spent it already (some of it, anyway.) I made a great start on my DVD collection by purchasing the Lord of the Rings Special Edition (4-Disc), Boondock Saints for a mere $10, and of course, my fav movie of all time, Braveheart. I fell into the usual trap when I walked into Best Buy with the intention of buying *just* LOTR, and walked out with $50 worth of DVD's instead. However, I did manage to NOT buy the standard edition of LOTR when it first came out, instead waiting patiently for the special one to come out today. Ha! ;-P
11/10/02, 9:45 p.m.: $202.50
That's what the current bid is on my TiBook parts machine. That's already about as much as I originally hoped for, but there's still a whole day left on it and the bids usually skyrocket during the last few hours auctions are up. This makes me very happy =)
As for things that made me unhappy this weekend, the Cyclone football team's performance on Saturday takes the cake for sure. I don't know what it is, but K-State always seems to dismantle the Cyclones when they have to play in Manhattan...I read somewhere that KSU has outscored ISU something like 156 to 20 in the last 3 games played there. Now that's getting your a$$ kicked >:-P
11/06/02, 9:39 p.m.: You just gotta love eBay...
After having the honor of being deemed Ross' favorite eBay junkie, I just couldn't let y'all down, so I put up an auction tonight for the TiBook 400 I'm selling for parts. Currently it has no bids, but I will keep you guys updated. Kinda sucks that Apple just announced the new TiBooks, though, because now I won't get as much for the working 500 I've got ;-P
Andy, I think I have a theory about your autopsy table at the UP sale: I bet it came from the vet college. I've helped my Dad before when he was cutting up some pigs, and that scary table looks AWFULLY similar to something I may have seen over there at the lab...disposal and all. The UP Sale never ceases to amaze, does it? =)
11/05/02, 11:30 p.m.: You can reach, but you can't grab it...
One of my all-time favorite bands, U2, released yet another album today (Best of 1990-2000). I picked up the two-disc set, plus "bonus" DVD for a mere $14.99 + tax at Best Buy after work today. I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it yet, but I've been impressed so far by the couple new tracks and B-sides I've listened to. Can't wait to listen to the rest =)

11/03/02, 9:02 p.m.: He's a hero in a half-shell.
I got a new digicam last week! As it might be pretty obvious at this point, I don't know exactly what I'll do with it right now, but it will come in handy some day, for sure. It's nothing fancy: a 3.1MP Kodak DX3700 with auto-focus, but it suits me fine. I think Leonardo likes it, too.
And in case you fogot the lyrics to the TMNT cartoon theme song, you can find them here.
