| 11/17/03, 7:22 p.m.: Where is Ben?! |
|
Wow, just realized that I haven't updated in ten whole days. Guess that means
nothing interesting has been going on in my life. Just been trying to take care of
some grad school stuff, and studied for a couple tests this past week and today.
Other than that, I'm leaving on Wednesday for Alabama, which means tomorrow is like
Friday for me. Sweet. I'm also (finally) taking my car in tomorrow to get the
large quarter-panel dent and hail damage fixed. Hopefully it will be done by
the time I get back in a week or so. Also while I'm gone, I hope my roommates
manage to catch that mischievous (and hungry) clothes-and-alcohol-stealing technophobe
of a thief that keeps taking our stuff. Yup.

| 11/7/03, 2:20 a.m.: Us 1, Drain 0 |
Since we moved into our apartment, we have had in one of our showers the most
worthless drain known to man. It has been clogged and/or slow since day one.
It has probably taken about 2 bottles of LP since then just to keep it
functional, but over the last 2 days we decided to wage war with a variety of
chemical weapons: half a leftover bottle of LP, one bottle of foaming liquid
pipe snake, and to top it off, a whole bottle of drano max power gel. The result:
we are victorious for now, as we have a drain that will empty the shower faster
than it fill up, for the first time all semester. Great, huh?
 Weapons of mass destruction
Also tonight, I saw Lost in Translation, which was a pretty sweet film. At the very
least, it was different than anything I've seen in a long time, which was
refreshing.

| 11/6/03, 1:29 a.m.: A wee bit cold |
|
It was freezing cold today, and if that wasn't enough, I had a soccer game at 3pm today...OUTSIDE.
At easily less than 40 degrees F, I think it was by far the
coldest game I've ever played in. I just now am probably about thawed out. In other news,
I've been trying to fine-tune my list of potential grad schools this week (now that I have
a little free time), and I think I may go nuts and apply to a few environmental engineering
programs, too. Something just feels a little bit sweeter about working on modeling of real things
like lakes and rivers, as opposed to standard engineering fare like pipes and heat sinks.
Or something.

| 11/3/03, 12:49 p.m.: Post-Halloween Goodness |
|
So Halloween was sweet--the Stuart Davis show rocked, as always, and John's party
was a good time. There were definitely some sweet costumes there (like Sam as a
Tibetan monk, the Howard Dean/Al Sharpton combo, Zim as a gangsta, etc.) Makes me
wish I'd thought of the perfect costume *before* Halloween, but oh well--you'll
just have to wait and see next year, I guess. The whole weekend after Friday
was not so cool, however. I spent a good deal of Saturday and all day Sunday (until 5am)
working on that damned Thermo project that I will hand in in roughly an hour.
With that out of the way, I can now move on with my life. Also awesome was going
to the grocery store last night and buying about 6 pounds of Halloween candy for a few
measly dollars. Sweetness.
