BOO!
Hope everyone had an awesome Halloween weekend -- I went back to the endless fiesta
known as Ames this weekend, and although it was pretty low key, I had a great time.
It was really good to see Poorman again, who tried his best to sneak into town without
anyone noticing. I had not seen him since probably sometime in July, I bet. Was also
good to see everyone else, of course -- always nice to be around people I know really
well, a feeling I don't get real often up here in Mpls yet.
As everyone is well aware, all the election craziness will go down this Tuesday. Needless to say, it will be nice when it's all over, I just hope it's an exciting election that ends favorably. My registration card came last week and I have only one class on Tuesday, so I should have no trouble making it to the polls.
Other than that, not much else going on except school and work, which is probably uninteresting to the rest of the world at the moment. I do have one interesting factoid for those of you I hadn't told yet, however: according to a recent UMN Daily article, my neighborhood (surprise surprise) has the second-highest instances of burglary and theft of any of the neighborhoods immediately adjacent to the campus. Perhaps this would explain why my bike disappeared within the first couple weeks I was here =|

Lake.
Two weekends ago I went up to Clitherall Lake to visit my grandparents before they
headed down to Florida for the winter. (It has been a crazy week and a half since then
so that is why I haven't updated until now.) It was a beautiful weekend with perfect
fall weather, clear skies, and the trees very much in color. I took around a
hundred pictures, including a bunch on the hour and a half I spent driving the country
roads on the way back to Minneapolis. Most didn't turn out well at all, but I've put
up a couple of my favorites below (an obligatory sunset pic and one with a little
color in it). Also during the weekend I had time to do
a little fishing with Grandpa, enjoy some of Grandma's cooking, and watch the
Twins lose to the Yankees =|. By Sunday
afternoon I really had no desire to return to the chaos and concrete of the big city
and study for my limnology exam on Monday ... but I was really glad to have had the
chance to visit, just the same.

Mipples.
This weekend was perhaps my most socially active in Minneapolis thus far, as Steve,
Alex, and Victoria ventured all the way up I-35 to pay me a visit. Highlights include
the MegaMall (a Mpls icon), and also the Minneapolis Institute of Art Museum, which
I had heard was pretty good but had not yet visited. I have to say it was pretty impressive for
having no admission charge. After that we ate at Pizza Luce in Uptown, which is allegedly
among the best pizza places in the Cities. It was awesome, as usual. Found a nice
brewery relatively close to where I live (Town Hall Brewery and Restaurant), and I will
definitely go back again soon. Sunday we took advantage of the perfect weather and
strolled around the riverfront area near my place and visited IKEA. All in all it was a
great weekend, but I have accomplished little more than hanging out and exploring the city ;)
Thanks, guys, for making the trip, it was a kickin' rad time.
